Monthly JS Developer meetup. Clean code and good beer.

Topics so far have been around AngularJS and the MEAN stack, but in reality the scope is pretty open. The     meetup will usually follow a beer socialization/forum format.  S Tahoe is for devs to get together, throw a few back, and learn collectively about JavaScript. We value good beer and good code and encourage the sharing of both.

                         Sponsored by Fiftyfifty Brewing Co.

Media Bootcamp Success

The July meeting of Thrive Tahoe featured local media maven Amy Westervelt who put over 30 Tahoe-ites through the ringer on what it takes to get great media for their businesses.  The handout is here [Media_Handout] – stay tuned for updates on the next talk!

Also, Amy wanted to pass on a crowd-funding campaign to support reporters in small markets by pairing them with editorial support to produce big, meaty environmental stories. Check it out and consider lending your support: https://www.beaconreader.com/projects/local-edition

Thrive Tahoe Meetup – June 3rd 5:30 PM @ The Lift

One of the first stages a company goes through is solution/problem fit (assuming you have found a problem that is worth solving). Validated problem? Check. Now what?

This months discuss will focus on tools available for early product design (physical product design, web layout/design and web application design). There are a whole host of solutions that can help even the least technical of us to craft product designs that guide early development efforts.

Meetup will be held at the Lift – 12242 Business Park Drive Truckee, CA 96161

Silicon Mountain Meeting with Nate Pearson of TrainerRoad.com

The Silicon Mountain Group, a network of technology professionals who live and work in the Tahoe-Truckee area, is pleased to welcome Nate Pearson of TrainerRoad.com to present: “TrainerRoad: From Bootstrap to Business.”

Nate Pearson, co-founder of TrainerRoad.com, will describe what it was like to launch a business with a $10k investment, while working a full time job. He’ll share his experience with marketing a startup, talk about the technical aspects of the software, and explain why he thinks the time constraints he faced in starting TrainerRoad worked to his advantage.

TrainerRoad develops software to make cyclists and triathletes faster. Using biometric feedback, TrainerRoad produces workouts and cycling plans to optimize cyclists’ performance. Over 900,000 workouts in over 30 countries have been completed on their platform and in just over 2.5 years, they have grown their Reno-based workforce to 11 employees.

More information about TrainerRoad can be found at TrainerRoad.com.

The meeting will be on Monday, May 12th, 6-8 pm at a new location: The Lift, 12242 Business Park Drive, Truckee, CA, 96161. A $5 fee includes pizza. Before and after the discussion, there will be time for networking with other technology professionals who live and work in the Tahoe-Truckee region.
